Most of the comics that say 30 cents or more on the cover are from later harvest and have limited value. Make sure that any advice you receive is completely free, as some places will offer in-person appraisals, but will charge for their services.
If you just want to know how old your comics are, an expert is likely to tell you by phone, text, or email. All you need are some details and images. If you decide to have your comics officially rated (which is very important if you think you have a valuable edition in your hands), you should know that you will receive a grade much like the ones listed below. There are several ways to tell if your comic is a first edition or if it's a fake.
If they match the examples you find on the Internet, then you should be good and you might have an expensive comic (with the few exceptions we've described). Since maintaining the condition of the copy over the years is a difficult task, the value of a vintage comic in perfect condition has skyrocketed. Valuing the value of your old comics can be overwhelming, but don't worry, some guidelines can help you simplify them and get the most out of your collection. Comics are one of those rare categories of collectibles that, at the same time, do not contribute anything at auction and also make a person incredibly rich in a private sale.
